6 Ways To Get Rid Of Annoying Fruit Flies
If you eat a healthy diet filled with fruits and vegetables, then you will undoubtedly be bombarded with infestations of pesky fruit flies. Here are 6 ideas for ridding your home of these annoying insects:
Apple Cider Vinegar Open a bottle of apple cider vinegar, cover with plastic wrap and secure with a rubber band. Poke holes in the plastic and watch the fruit flies get trapped inside the bottle. They love the smell of cider vinegar.
Vinegar and Dish Soap Follow this method if you have trouble getting the fruit flies into the bottle of apple cider vinegar: Put apple cider vinegar into a bowl with a few drops of liquid soap. The soap breaks down the surface tension of the vinegar, forcing the flies to sink and drown.
A Paper Cone and a Piece of Fruit Put a piece of very ripe fruit into a jar with vinegar. Roll a piece of paper into a cone and place into the jar. The fruit flies will be trapped inside the jar with the fruit and vinegar.
Red Wine Use the cone again, and put a little red wine in a bottle. Once again, the fruit flies will get trapped as they love the smell of red wine.
Milk, Sugar and Pepper Combine a pint of milk, 2 ounces of ground pepper and 4 ounces of raw sugar, simmer for 10 minutes. Pour into a dish and wait for the flies to drown.
Aunt Fannie’s FlyPunch! This is a new product on the market containing the natural ingredients, sodium lauryl sulfate and malic acid. Just remove the pop-top and place on your counter. Fruit flies are highly attracted to these ingredients and will enter the container and die.
