An Amazing Evening At Dakota Restaurant
February is a very busy month in my family. Although it is the shortest month it has the most family birthdays. My mom's birthday is the 4th, my grandmother's is the 5th, my birthday is the 8th and I share that day with my aunt, and finally my uncle's is the 16th. I was not stretching the truth when I said we have a lot of birthdays in February.
But this year is really special. My mom turned 80 on February the 4th. My sister and I were trying to plan a really nice, special, fabulous celebration. Although my sister and I had many different ideas of how to celebrate - my mom said she wanted to go to Dakota Restaurant in Covington to have dinner. So we invite all the family and I met with Tori at Dakota to get the plans together for the special evening. Tori was great to work with - planning which room to use, how the tables should be placed, and what would be on the menu. Tori was very knowledgeable, helpful, and pleasant.
Dakota was an amazing place to celebrate my mom's 80th birthday. Honestly it was perfect! The food was wonderful, the atmosphere was fabulous, the service was A+, and everybody had a great time. We had children that attended the party and Dakota was very accommodating for them - they offered many choices of entrees that would appeal to children. If you have never been to Dakota you should plan to go for lunch or dinner or plan a special event with them.
A brief history of the Dakota Restaurant: The Restaurant opened in October of 1990 in Covington, Louisiana. Ken LaCour and Chef Kim Kringle are the proprietors. If you would like to learn more about Executive Chef Kim Kringle and Ken LaCour take a look at this website http://http://bcwriters.com/?p=732. The atmosphere is elegant but comfortable. The menu is a wonderful selection of foods influenced by creole cuisine and contemporary Louisiana favorites. Their signature dish is a delicious Lump Crabmeat & Brie Soup. My favorite appetizer is the Lamb Nachos - so many interesting flavors combined in one dish.
