Northshore 2017 Mardi Gras
Don’t miss out on the Northshore’s 2017 Mardi Gras, where you can see dozens of parades, balls and other events, and which is always family-oriented and lots of fun for everyone! Please see the following link for a schedule of the Northshore parades: http://www.louisiananorthshore.com/event/mardi-gras-2017-northshore-parades-full-schedule/443/. The parades run from January 7 through March 5 and include both traditional truck floats and boat parades. On February 11, the Krewe of Bilge, formed in 1978, is a boat parade in Slidell that goes along Harbor Drive and the Dock of Slidell. In Mandeville, you can see the very popular and all-male Original Krewe of Orpheus on Friday, February 24, which rolls through the streets of Mandeville. This parade is known for its illuminated floats and large variety of throws. Its theme this year is Let’s Make Mandeville Great Again. Then on Mardi Gras Day, February 28, the Mystic Krewe of Covington, which was founded in 1951 by the Knights of Columbus, parades in downtown Covington. Finally, Northshore Mardi Gras finishes the season with the Mystic Krewe de Paws on March 5 and assembles a group of dogs parading in costume along the Mandeville Lakefront. People love this unique parade and the Krewe de Paws also raises money to help support local animal agencies. Hope you can get out to enjoy some of these parades, and if you would like additional information on other Northshore parades, please click the following: http://www.louisiananorthshore.com/events/annual-events/mardi-gras/.
