If you’d like to experience Louisiana swamps and bayous up close, visit Canoe and Trail Adventures for one of their Moonlight Paddle Tours. This family-owned and operated business was founded in 1972 and has recently added kayaking swamp tours to its agenda. In addition to the tours, they also teach classes on wilderness skills for camping, canoeing and backpacking. Moonlight tours are scheduled just once a month on the Saturday of or before the full moon. Canoe and Trail Adventures also offer Twilight tours in Mandeville. These tours are scheduled more frequently, and although they are called twilight tours, they actually begin during the day when you paddle out to the wetlands, have lunch at sunset, then paddle again during twilight.
