Will you be decorating your holiday table in a new house??

The month of December is usually known as a frantic time of shopping and going to countless holiday parties.

However, while you may be sipping your rum infused eggnog in your new sparkly holiday dress, there are others out there BUYING houses. And with good reason.

Some reasons sellers are selling in December:

Job relocating

Financial Hardship

Personal change of circumstances

Whatever the reason may be, the sellers are MOTIVATED. They usually aren't "sitting" on their property for an indefinite period of time. They need to sell.

There is low buyer competition. There are fewer buyers in the marketplace so there is a better chance at negotiating a sweet deal.  Homes are priced to sell.

The tax benefits are great also. If you can close by December 31st, you can deduct property taxes, mortgage interest, origination points on your loan and interest costs. This can be huge money savers.

Moving companies can usually be secured at shorter notice and probably at a lower cost.

December means fewer real estate transactions and that means loan officers may be willing to offer special incentives or reduce origination fees.

So go ahead and sip that eggnog, but wait till you are snug as a bug in your new home!  There will be more money for presents and parties AFTER you save money buying a home in December.

Your Cycling Realtor,

Stephanie
