If you are an aspiring artist or would like to take some art classes, check out The Hammond Regional Arts Center at 217 E. Thomas Street in Hammond, LA. This active center was organized to support and encourage an appreciation of the arts in Tangipahoa Parish through exhibits and performances. It focuses on visual, literary, culinary and performing arts. See the following link for the 2017 schedule of exhibitions: https://www.hammondarts.org/exhibitions. The HRAC is currently accepting proposals for exhibiting artwork for the 2018-2019 calendar year. If your proposal is selected, it will be exhibited in the main gallery (usually for 1 month) opening on the first Friday of the month and closing on the last Friday of the month. To be considered, please read the instructions at the next link:https://www.hammondarts.org/artist-calls, then email the required documents to [email protected].  In July a variety of adult art classes will be available covering topics such as watercolor techniques, landscapes in oils, still life painting and more. See the schedule and registration information at the following link: https://www.hammondarts.org/adult-art-camp.  For information on other events, see the next link:  https://www.hammondarts.org/events
