Gumbo And Brass Bands Mix At The Treme Creole Gumbo Festival In New Orleans

If you love listening to brass bands and a fabulous bowl of gumbo, visit the 10th annual Tremé Creole Gumbo Festival to be held at Louis Armstrong Park on November 17-18, 2017 from 11am - 7:30pm. Admission is free, but attendees may make a donation in one of the boxes located in the parking areas. The Tremé Creole Gumbo Festival is produced by the nonprofit Jazz & Heritage Foundation that also owns the Jazz & Heritage Festival. The musical lineup for the Tremé Fest includes Grammy-winning Rebirth Brass Band, the Hot 8, the Original Pinstripe and many others. Trumpet Mafia will make its first appearance on the the Tremé Fest stage.

In addition to the wonderful jazz brass bands, you can expect many delicious variations of gumbo along with a selection of signature dishes served in the Congo Square Food Court. There will be something for everyone’s tastes, including vegan dishes. Be sure to check out the cooking stage where you can see the First Annual “Gumbosium” featuring panel discussions and cooking demonstrations. Also on hand will be dozens of local artists displaying their handmade art and furniture at the Arts Market. An additional section of the Arts Market is the Kids Area where your children can engage in creative workshops supervised by local artists.
