Although living on a cul-de-sac seems like a desirable location for many people, there are some downsides to consider:

  1. Children Children are attracted to a cul-de-sac because there is very little traffic, and therefore, a great place to play sports. If you are looking for peace and relative quiet in your home, you may need to reconsider this location.

  2. Property Damage With children comes the possibility of damage to your property with, perhaps, a baseball flying through your window. Other property damage is also quite possible to your yard or automobile.

  3. Neighbors you see daily You will not be able to avoid seeing your neighbors because of the arrangement of the cul-de-sac.

  4. Parking Problems Parking is limited and can be a problem when having guests over. Sometimes your visitors may have to park down the street and walk a distance before getting to your house.

  5. Access Issues You should consider the possibility of limited space when emergency vehicles, such as firetrucks and ambulances need to get through. This can cause a problem because usually, there is just one way in or out of the cul-de-sac.
