The Louisiana Children’s Museum is dedicated to fostering the development of young children through hands on activities that involve problem solving, inquiry and free play. Visit the website at: http://lcm.org/. The museum opened in 1986 with the belief that children must take an active part in their learning. When you visit the website for the Louisiana Children’s Museum, you will find important information concerning their mission and core principles. Please see: http://lcm.org/history-mission.

Here are some examples of the wonderful exhibits and programs presented at the museum:

The Voyage to Vietnam exhibit is an interactive program that that allows children to observe and participate in different aspects of Vietnamese life including the Spring Flower dance, a bamboo flute, walking on a bamboo bridge while balancing woven baskets, dressing up in authentic Vietnamese costumes, and shopping at a traditional market with faux food items. This exhibit continues until September 11, 2016.

Katrina Voices, which is a storytelling project in which children, who were between the ages of 4 and 11, share their stories and memories of Hurricane Katrina. These children were from Orleans, Jefferson and St. Bernard Parishes.
