Meander The Extraordinary Sculpture Garden At City Park
Visit New Orleans City Park to experience the fabulous 5-acre Sydney and Walda Besthoff Sculpture Garden located outside the New Orleans Museum of Art. The Sculpture Garden contains over 60 extraordinary sculptures spread out among beautiful trees such as 200-year old live oaks, pines, magnolias and camellias. A lagoon separates the Garden into two halves with a mature pine and magnolia grove adjacent to the museum. On the other side of the lagoon are the live oak trees near the Botanical Garden. Of the 60 plus exhibits in the Sculpture Garden, most were donated by Sydney and Walda Besthoff. Sydney Besthoff was the former CEO and chairman of the huge drugstore chain K&B. For many years, he and his wife Walda were avid art collectors. The sculpture pieces are all from world-famous artists, such as Pierre Auguste Renoir, Rene Magritte, Antoine Bourdelle and many others. Click the following link to take a look at some of the pieces in the Sculpture Garden: https://noma.org/sculpture-garden/works-in-the-garden/. Hours are 10 AM - 6 PM Monday-Friday and 10 - 5 Saturday and Sunday. For a free audio tour of the Sculpture Garden, you can use your cell phone to access the tour.
