Something For Everyone At Satchmo Summer Fest In The Quarter
Set your calendars for August 4-6, 2017 when Chevron presents Satchmo Summer Fest 2017 at the Old US Mint in the French Quarter. The admission is just $5 per day, and you get a wristband so that you can come and go throughout the day. Prior to the festival, there will be a Kickoff Party on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at the Omni Royal Orleans Hotel for The Spirit of Satchmo Awards and music by Germaine Bazzle. The Satchmo Fest has something for everyone to enjoy. There will be live music performed on 2 stages for the 3 days of the festival. In addition to the music, check out the Satchmo Symposium where you can learn more about Louis Armstrong’s artistry and his many contributions to music and New Orleans culture through a series of seminars and lectures presented each day of the festival. The last day of the festival begins with the annual jazz mass held at the Sidney Bechet Church at 1210 Governor Nicholls Street, followed by a second line parade leading to the Satchmo Fest.
