With something for everyone, the six-week long 2017 Louisiana Renaissance Festival will be held on the following dates: November 4, 5, 11, 12,18,19, 24, 25, 26 and December 2, 3, 9, 10, 2017 at 46468 River Road near Hammond, LA 70401. In operation since 1999, the festival emulates a 16th century English Renaissance village called the Village of Albright. The Village is arranged to resemble the Renaissance period in England during the reign of Elizabeth I. Some of the activities include authentic recreations of sword fights, jousting, dancing, juggling and other entertainment from that time period. There will be over 600 artisans, entertainers and educational demonstrators over the course of the festival. You can learn about crafts of that time from demonstrations including weaving, candle making, glass blowing, and blacksmithing.  Check out the following link to see the schedule of entertainment and demonstrations: https://www.larf.net/experience-fest/shows. In addition to the entertainment and demonstrations, you will also see booths with hand crafted goods to bring home as souvenirs. The admission is $17 for adults, $10 for children 7-12 years old and free to children under 7. Hours are 9:45 AM till dusk, rain or shine. You can purchase tickets at the following link: https://secure.la-renfest.com/login.aspx.
