Tripping over unused furniture parked in the garage?  Granny’s dining room set not quite your style?  Consider the advantages of consignment selling!  1) You can reach a large target audience of potential buyers since shoppers are intentionally focused on the hunt for that “bargain find” or visionary remake!  2) Less hassle for you!  Deal directly with the consignment shop and avoid answering multiple emails or phone calls associated with online selling. 3) Your safety:  avoid having to meet a stranger for product showing or delivery.  And 4) convenience!  Just take everything to one place and let them handle it from there!  Got the idea?  Skip to list of Northshore consignment stores at bottom.  Need more info?  Read on!

Want to know how it works?  Most reputable consignment stores provide a simple contract outlining the terms of consignment.  Here’s what you need to look for:

How long will your item be consigned?

How are the profits distributed between you and the store?

Will your item be marked down?  If so, what is the schedule?

What happens if the item does not sell?

When can you expect your check once the item sells?

Want to know typical items consigned?  If it’s a household goods store there will be everything from furniture to lamps to dishes to art to outdoor urns!  Other stores specialize in just clothing and/or jewelry.

Got an item you’re thinking of consigning?  For smaller items, just take to consignment store for evaluation.   For larger stuff like furniture or heavy pieces,  take multiple photos and show them to the consignment store representative (in person or via email)  to confirm suitability and discuss price point.
