If you are a fan of Abita Beer and would like to learn more about it, including how it’s made, you’ll love touring the expanded brewery accompanied by a tasting of the brew. The brewery is located at 166 Barbee in Covington and offers both self-guided and guided tours. The guided tours include (4) 4-oz. Tastings and are just $5;  or free if you are under 21 years old.   All tours begin every half hour, and for safety purposes, you must wear closed toe shoes to enter the brewery.  The brewery also offers self guided tours which are free.  Abita Brewery was founded in 1986 when it produced 1,500 barrels of beer in Abita Springs but didn’t realize how popular it would become and soon had to move to a larger location. Today the company brews more than 151,000 barrels of beer per year along with 9,100 barrels of root beer. If you would like additional information on the tours or to purchase tickets, please see the following link: https://abita.com/visit/tours.
